Casper and Friends started in 2001 as a small one man operation with a desire to help the unfortunate wildlife in the local area. We have grown from 2 birds, to over 150 endemic and exotic birds and animals on hand to date. A number constantly changing with each new arrival and release back to the wild.
It was noted that local DENR did not have the facility nor the resources to stay on top of the need in the area of wildlife rescue, and therefore Casper and Friends was founded.
Oct 2005, a three party Memorandum of Agreement between Casper and Friends, DENR, and the Provincial Goverment of Bataan, was signed declaring us an officially accredited Wildlife Rescue Center.
At the same time 2 Brahminy Kites were released back to the wild after 2 years of rehab, and the entire province of Bataan was declared a bird
sanctuary by the Governor. To date the 2 Kites are still flying free in the release area as they should be.
Casper and Friends is an Official NGO. It is solely financed by the founder. All costs for food, medicines, medical treatment, maintenance, caretakers, etc, is the sole responsibility of the founder with no outside help. |
