This Maria and baby Mario. Blue Naped-Parrots to me seem to be the most gentle of all Parrots I have ever had. They are very heavily persecuted for the pet trade and becoming more and more endangerd. At any given day you can go to the outdoor markets in Manila and see cages full of babies being sold for the pet trade. Maria was brought back from the verge of death twice and is very heavily imprinted. She is my walking buddy, sitting on my shoulder as I come down to the center, or rides the handlebars of the motorcycle.

Mario was released back to the wild about 3 months after the photo was taken. They are endemic here found mostly on the island of Palawan, and the rainforest of Subic Bay.
